Summer week 10

This week was initially going to be spent working on editing the images of the 1950 "sports" scrapbook, only for me to try to use Photoshop at the school library and be met with a “you no longer have access to this content, contact a administrator” message. In absence of being able to work on the photo editing I continued work on the metadata for the scrapbook. While many of these are going to be similar, “here’s a image of a Orlando Senior High School V ____ football game poster” and “the reverse images showing the members of the Athletic association of Orlando High Schools”, the rest of the book past these posters contains newspaper clippings related to various sporting events that members of Orlando High School’s teams partook in.

The metadata for these is simpler than that of the posters, these entries will include the article name, description of the image, and any names listed. The posters however since there is a massive list of names, that being of the Orlando Athletic association, for best search ability, needs to have all the names listed so that in the event that one individual listed is being looked for these items will come up in the search query. I still find myself constantly having to refer to the metadata guidebook and other sources regarding the Dublin core system while I work on the metadata sheet, how much information to include, what can be omitted, how do you handle certain things if say there's multiple images do you separate it into two metadata "boxes" so that each one has it's own searchable terms, or do you just keep them together formatted in one box of the excel sheet.    In other news I found something of interest recently my uncle has, and let me borrow, a OHS yearbook from 1951, after looking back at the images we have of the yearbooks; Howard did not have this one in their collection, I hope to find the time to get it scanned next week if not sooner.
